They are equipped with motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top pick), they use smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you need to change the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has strong suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and look better. automated vacuum is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's more expensive and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys the mop pads.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and under furniture more easily.
